Emma Brown (mezzo-soprano)
Vocalise choir of Nottingham Girls’ High School
Mezzo-soprano Emma Brown makes a welcome return to her roots in Nottingham following a remarkable year – 2018 – when she sang to thousands at events in France, Belgium, Holland and the UK commemorating the end of World War One. Not surprisingly, the first concert in the 2019 Binns Organ Series will include songs from that era, showcasing Emma’s stunning voice as well as the glorious Binns organ, which dates from 1909.
Having attended Nottingham Girls’ High School, Emma suggested sharing a platform with the Vocalise choir of the junior school, whose singers have already delighted congregations at the annual Lace Market Carol Service. City Organist John Keys joins the singers in a programme of songs from poignant to warm-hearted, with items from ‘Last Night of the Proms’ and of course some organ solos.
Do join us on Fathers’ Day for an enjoyable afternoon.
